SEPTEMBER 6, 2003 –
It's about time the mainstream press started reading The Moderate
Independent. Last week, when a producer from CNN called us
to ask for details about the story we broke of Arnold's Carnival In
Rio endeavors (see story with photo here,)
we knew it was about to break big.
At first, they didn't care much about Arnold's Carnival In Rio
endeavors, with the carrot in the bunda and countless other fun
moments
And they didn't care about the recent affairs, breast grabbing, and
even ass grabbing with Maria standing right by his side (see story
here.)
But, when the 1977 interview he gave to
Oui magazine about his gang bangs and hashish smoking broke
(see the story that broke this one at
Slate here, and
see the interview itself at
The
Smoking Gun,) they finally woke up. And now, at
last, they are running with our story.
In fact, the The San Francisco Chronicle
is using a photo and quote directly from our website without citing
us as the source (see
story here.) Note the image of Arnie winking at the top of the
story - exactly the one we created from the video for our site, and
the quotes about the "mulatta's ass," and Americans not liking
breasts - two quotes that we took from completely different parts of
the scene that the Chronicle article just blends together - not
coincidentally exactly as we did, except that we at least said they
were taken from different parts of the tape. On top of being
rip-off artists, they don't mind taking quotes out of context from
different parts of a tape without pointing it out.
You might want to write the authors of
that story,
jwildermuth@sfchronicle.com and
cmarinucci@sfchronicle.com, and tell them if they want to be
with a news source that actually breaks stories months and months
before the mainstream press, come work for The Moderate
Independent. But if they want to use stories we broke or
scans we made for our site, at least have the integrity to give
credit where it is due. You can CC: us on your letters at
webadmin@moderateindependent.com .
Whether or not the corporate press gives
us credit,
Arnold is taking it on the chin thanks to us and you, our loyal
readers who helped to spread the word! As the San Fran
Chronicle rip-off artists mentioned in the above report:
"Women's groups carrying signs saying "No groper for governor"
clashed Friday with supporters of Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger
over his attitudes toward women -- even as his campaign faced new
questions about his past with the wide Internet play of a racy 1983
video starring the former bodybuilder."
Even better, Playboy
itself, owner of rights to the video, is considering re-releasing it
- we don't know if this means with the additional carrot in the butt
footage that other videos had edited out, but in any case, our story
has women marching in the street and Hugh Heffner cranking up the
video presses.
Not bad for an upstart
news source that is only on its tenth issue, huh?
In the above San Fran
Chron article, Arnold made a challenge. He said, "I think you should
just go and talk to the women I worked with, either on movies or in
business and charitable organizations," he said. Well, Arnold, try THIS STORY by guest-writer
Jackson Thoreau on for size, about a woman you worked with who claims
you harassed her. He sent this to us months ago, but we held off
on posting it. But, since you asked...
Any other requests,
Arnie? You ask for it, you're going to get it... from The Moderate
Independent (take note, San Fran Chronicle, of our name - CNN
did.)
