JULY 27, 2004 – Arnold is the man who will revive the Republican Party in California - a party that, other than his recall-collected Governorship, doesn't hold a single major office in the state. Even more, a constitutional amendment is in the works which would allow Arnold to run for President, something the foreign-born Schwarzenegger is currently forbidden from doing (see CNN article.) But hold on a second. Word has been passed to us at The Moderate Independent by an inside source that Arnold is ranting all over the capitol about how miserable he is in his position and how he won't run for re-election. In fact, one top-level Democrat - who is a known top gubernatorial hopeful for the next election - is quoted as saying clearly and plainly that he is not concerned about having to compete with Arnold in the next election because Schwarzenegger has made clear he isn't going to run again. Our source tells us that this top-level Democrat - one of the three major Democratic contenders - is not the only one relaying this information. Apparently, once the scripted, crowd-packed campaign days ended, so did the fun for Arnold. And now he is more interested in plotting his next big film than his re-election campaign. In all honesty, who could blame him. He could be living a life of making $20 million a pop for acting tough while pinching lots of breasts and everyone would love him and no one would give him a hard time. All problems to be solved would be worked out by the script writers ahead of time. And all Arnold would have to do is come up with some good jokes for his appearance on Leno. Our source for this one is highly reliable. Things can obviously change over the next couple of years, but as of now, according to our source, Arnold is whining all over the Sacramento about how miserable he is as Governor and saying he has no plans to run again.
